Our
island has much to offer visitors including miles of unspoilt
beaches, an abundance of wildlife and a rich variety of
plant life. There is a golf course within walking distance
and throughout the island there are many historical and
archaeological sites which are a testimony to the long
and ancient history of the islands.
Only 5 miles to the south is the village of Leverburgh
where there is a well provisioned mini-market, Post Office,
petrol station, local resturants and the ferry terminal
to the Uist island range. The village of Tarbert is sixteen
miles to the north on the A859 Stornoway road which has
all amenities including hairdressers, hotels, licensed
grocers and the ferry terminal to Skye.
Stornoway
is one hour's drive away where the local airport and the
ferry terminal to Ullapool can be accessed, along with
car hire firms, shops and supermarkets.
All
areas of Harris and Lewis are easily visited by car.
